This six-day Argentine Patagonia trip splits cleanly between glaciers and peaks. Three nights in El Calafate cover the Perito Moreno Glacier and a day on Lago Argentino; three nights in El Chaltén deliver the two great day hikes of Los Glaciares National Park's northern sector, Laguna de los Tres and Laguna Torre. The two towns are 220 km apart on paved roads, connected by regular buses. The plan is season-bound: October to April is the reliable window, when trails are free of snow and daylight is long enough for full hiking days. Costs are in Argentine pesos; the budget excludes flights, lodging and the final transfer out, and assumes mid-range choices such as a standard Perito Moreno day tour, the standard boat safari, a Viedma glacier cruise, self-guided trails, local buses and everyday meals.
