One island per day: Gamla Stan's medieval lanes, palace, and City Hall on day one; Djurgården's museum row (Vasa, Skansen, ABBA) on day two; Södermalm's viewpoints, Fotografiska, and beer-hall classics on day three. Distances are short and the T-bana, tram 7, and the Djurgården ferry stitch it together on 42 SEK singles. Summer means 18-hour days and Skansen in full swing; in winter plan the outdoor stops (Monteliusvägen, Gamla Stan lanes) before the ~15:00 sunset and note Östermalms Saluhall closes Sundays.

Stortorget, Gamla Stan, Stockholm
The gabled square from every postcard, then the lanes before the crowds: Köpmangatan, Prästgatan, and Mårten Trotzigs gränd — the 90 cm alley that is the city's narrowest street. Free; go early, the tour groups land by 10:30.

How we check

Anything with a kitchen or a ticket gate is verified individually: the official site where one exists, plus recent traveler reviews. Public squares, parks and viewpoints get an existence check. A venue we can’t confirm is flagged below rather than quietly kept, and the whole itinerary is re-checked on a cadence — past 12 months without one, the checked claim is dropped and the date above stops being a promise.
